TRAVELS IN NORTH AMERICA IN THE YEARS 1780, 1781 and 1782

This is a new and definitive edition of an early American classic- the travels of Rochambeau's major-general, both a man of war and a man of letters, who accompanied the French Expeditionary Forces to America. This new edition is based on the original translation by Grieve (1787) which has been carefully revised, and it is the first complete English text. It constitutes an important contemporary commentary on the new country and will continue to have a permanent place in all historical collections.
