STORMALONG GERT

Tugboat Annie appeal in a story of a Nova Scotia fishing community. With the death of her husband, Gert takes over his business, and into one crowded summer speeds herself up to raise funds for her grandchild's operation. Opposition from the men culminates in an attempt to repeat with her the ""accident"" which ended her husband's life. There's a fineness of spirit in the story -- sentiment -- a sympathetic handling -- and a gentler tone than in Tugboat Annie.
