ROUNDS AND ROUNDS

This is fun- and a beguiling looking book. Once you get into groups that like group singing you find how many people are making a hobby of rounds -- and Miss Taylor has an infectious enthusiasm that makes one want to get such a group together right away and try the hundred and more rounds included in this collection. An historical introduction tells how far back the history of rounds goes, when the first collections were made in the 16th century, the ""Catch Clubs"" some of them in existence for 200 years, the folk quality and the link with modern music. The inclusions are arranged in order of progressive difficulty. There's a brief section telling how to sing rounds. The musical arrangements are highly simplified.
