Complex family background, Susan's somewhat mysterious origins, inheritance, greedy relations, a past affair and the real thing, and the local Sheriff kept in ignorance of dirty linens and skeletons. A bit gothic in family set-up, and not always sound, but pleasant going along the M.R.R. line.
