by ‧RELEASE DATE: Oct. 5, 1942
A fine looking book in which Sa aged 9, and Lois, aged 7, listen to the story of how St. Nicholas come to the Dutch here 300 years ago. First you find the story of St. Nicholas himself; then you learn of the customs in Holland; then in New Amsterdam, where the English gradually picked up the habits. The word changed from Sinter Klass to Santa Claus; they hung up stockings instead of putting out wooden shoes. Towards the end of this book you learn about Clement C. Moors and find his famous poem.
