The former White House housekeeper, who remembers when the same rug had to be vacuumed five times a day or the vermeil in the Gold Room needed polishing, for the most part gets down to just plain folks. Plain folks, it might be said, who aren't too bright to begin with and are slobs too (there's a whole chapter on putting things away in the right places). Mrs. Kaltman is very big on order and you're apt to be all for it too even if you mightn't want to categorize your kitchen cupboards into groups and subgroups. She's also efficient so that you plan your time well, shop and clean properly, organize your menus, use up all those leftovers, and think and keep ahead at all times. The woman's work which is never done takes some doing.
