BUDS IN YOUR EYE

The gay, beery adventures of Mrs. Feeley, California junkwoman, and her two new housemates, Mrs. Rasmussen, whom she rescues from nagging children, and Miss Tinkham, definitely respectable and cultured, but also definitely moneyless, as they attend Spanish classes, promote a romance, budget for food (and beer), and save Mrs. Feeley's property from a public auction. Their schemes for income when the junk pile dwindles; their work in a tuna factory; their jaunt to Mexico; their seizure of the man who swindled Mrs. Feeley's tax money; their rewards; and the bangup wedding they throw for their successful matchmaking. Not highbrow this -- but unsophisticated comedy warmly tinged with sentiment. Minus the shrewdness, this reminds you somewhat of Tugboat Annie.
