BLUEGRASS IGGY

The background strains of Orange Blossom Special are transferred straight from Sullivan's Indestructible Old-Time String Band (p. 714, J-246) and the arrangement is a standard one--a loner's first, reassuring lesson in how to make friends by being a friend. Nevertheless Iggy's fear that having a good ear for music will make him a social outcast (when he faces the dilemma of whether to be a good guy and play in his buddies' off-key band) make for an interesting conflict between quality and cooperation and his knack for banjo picking gives a lift to an otherwise ordinary sort of story.
