A BIRDSEYE HISTORY OF MUSIC; MAURICE RAVEL; JOH. SEB. BACH; LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN

An unusual series of monographs -- four titles -- bound in boards, with paper overlay, reenforced backbone stitching, attractive looking books, with numerous illustrations -- many from old prints and engravings. Each title provides -- in the case of the individual composers,- interpretation, biographical notes, appraisal of contribution bibliography for further reading. The introductory volume is a panorama of musical cry- a tremendous amount of factual material in few pages. The volume coming on Greger chant is an historical survey. Good books for music students rather than for the pub.
