A BLACK EXPLORER AT THE NORTH POLE: An Autobiographical Report by the Negro Who Conquered the Top of the World with Admiral Robert E. Peary

Published in 1912 as A Negro Explorer at the North Pole, this appears as it did originally with the Foreword by Peary and an Introduction by Booker T. Washington. That it looks as old as it is, is all to the good; this Colored Man who converted (i.e. scrubbed and outfitted) an orphaned Esquimo boy into a presentable Young American was writing a Long Time Ago. None of which detracts from his achievements--it just requires a certain adjustment.
