WINGS IN YOUR FUTURE

Two New York science teachers have written an informal and informative general introduction to flight, companionably geared for youngsters with that interest. Before going into flight and types of planes the authors present basic principles- the properties of air, its lifting and turning pressure, and Newton's laws of motion. These make propeller and jet flight understandable, and in simple terms the descriptions of different kinds of jet engines, of aircraft (helicopters, zeppelins, etc.), the functions of an airport, a passenger flight, and the future possibility of rockets-follow. Easy-to-do experiments further clarify the introductory material. A good book to read with Llewellen's Birds and Plane. Hay They Fly.
