Returning to the period of his Mary of Scotland, Elizabeth the Queen. and his particular medium of poeticized historical drama, this portrays the powerful, passionate struggle between Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII -- the 1000 days in which he was to love her, until he won her love; the 1000 days in which she was to hate him until she loved him; and the one day when their love was of equal measure. Effective as this will be in production, with its dramatic intensity, its poetic prose makes it also a play to read.
