MARCOS

Charming story of a Mexican hill town boy who goes to Oaxaca to seek the family fortune, with a stock of apples as a starter. On the journey, his stock dwindles but he makes his way by helping here and there, and could have had various Jobs, but they wouldn't earn him a team of oxen. Then comes his arrival in the jolty"" and his amazement at the city's unfriendliness -- until he finds a kind lady who lets him water her garden and a weaver who will teach him his trade. Good story -- delightful atmosphere -- lovely pictures by the Haders -- and unfortunately poor type page.
