LET'S GO PLAY AT THE ADAMS'

This is a small horror story seeded with bad ones who call themselves the Freedom Five and show their independence by gagging and tying up the twenty year-old sitter of Cindy and Bobby Adams and then proceeding to do ""other kinds of cool stuff to her."" This includes rape by the eldest member, Johnny, once and more reciprocally twice, and then the murder she anticipates. The lesson here is the one you'll learn during an hour spent at any sandbox (or of course in better books ever since The Innocent Voyage) -- ""People kill people. . . . Losers, lose"" but none of it comes alive, or dead as the case may be, in author Johnson's flattened, declarative style far from the insidious innuendo of what Harriet Said.
