MAXIMUM IMMUNITY

Another pop-medicine book--this one focusing on the immune system and how, through proper diet and attitudinal changes, we can achieve maximum immunity from disease. Weiner has been there before with books on The People's Herbal and Homeopathic Medicine. His current opus tells us a bit about the immune system before giving a recitation of very familiar information on vitamins, exercise routines, suggestions on biofeedback and other attitude adjusters, and simple charts, which allow the reader to assess his own immunity quotient. The concerned reader would be better advised to look elsewhere for common-sense guidelines on this subject. Weiner is far too quick to espouse, say, vitamins without warning of possible consequences. (In three pages dealing with Vitamin C, for example, he recommends high dosages, without once mentioning the possible implication of such dosages in the formation of kidney stones.) This deserves minimum attention.
