FAMOUS SAINTS

A definition of saintliness and its various qualities, drawn from the Beatitudes and their interpretation by St. Thomas Acquinas, precedes a brief collection of biographies of well known saints and the particular ways in which they fulfilled the requirements for canonization. Included are portraits of the Holy Family, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalen, St. Jude, St. Paul, the travelers' saints, Christopher and Bernard, St. Francis, Joan of Arc and St. Theresa of Lisieux. A calm respect in the writing and a pinpointing of the cruces in these persons' lives makes this a good reference book of religious sketches.
