SCORPION

Davis--in top performance--has concealed a stinger at the close of every segment of this stylish nerve-lasher, again introducing agreeable people among deceptively random portents of most disagreeable matters. Recently orphaned Holly returns to the Caribbean island home of her grandparents, high on a shimmering hill above blue waters--and, she hopes, sufficiently removed from the rumbles of racial conflict, rumors of witchcraft practices, and hints of murder. But there's that glint of binoculars far off while Holly suns, visits, and renews friendships among the island dwellers, all of whom seem to be hounded in mysterious ways to sell and move out. A very ill boy is prevented from reaching the mainland and a doctor, a child is drowned, and there are mutterings about revenge. And before the gloriously ghastly climax on May 1st, watch for some truly startling appearances and. . . the prime suspect's corpse. The countdown starts April 16th on the way to May Day, and you won't skip a minute.
