Black-and-white drawings and simple questions show the distinctions in shape, petals, stamens, and pistils among different flowers. The book is really a primer on scientific classification, though an explanation of families of flowers will have to wait for class discussion. Most of the drawings are meticulously clear, but neither the mint flower nor jewelweed as pictured looks ""as though it has two lips,"" and the diagram of the poppy differs considerably from the realistic drawing on the facing page. Serviceable.
