THE COLLEGE OF THE FUTURE

Not, as I had hoped, a survey of American higher education for the layman seeking a basis of surer understanding of the situation, but a philosophical and highly specialized appraisal of fundamental plans and trends, with little specific analysis of individual colleges and universities, except in so far as some aspect or other points up his thesis. A book for college officials, for large public libraries, for educational theorists and students. But not for the man in the street who wants to decide where to enter his son or daughter.
