YALE REVIEW ANTHOLOGY
by ‧RELEASE DATE: Oct. 13, 1942
Established in 1911, the Yale Review has reflected, in somewhat serious vein, the temper of the world. Much of the material first issued there has appeared in finished works, in other anthologies, but this is the first anthology devoted solely to the output of The Yale Review itself. There has been an endeavor, in selecting material, to choose only that that has not dated -- and the results endorse the effort. They are varied in subject and handling, there are critical essays, general articles, short stories, reflecting a wide range of intellectual effort and a high level of vitality. And there is indeed a galaxy of stars:- Virginia Woolf, H.L. Mencken, H.M. Tom, Archibald MacLeish, Stephen Benet, Julian Huxley, James Truslow Adams, Thomas Mann, Erskine Caldwell, Thornton Wilder, Hugh Walpole, Walter de la Mare, etc.
