Here's a book for the same sort of market Thunder Over Mexico had. The Johnstones, London Fleet Street couple, were bitten by the bug of running ""a pub"" -- and found in a Mediterranean coast village in Spain the setting that filled all dreams. So they did it. And this is the story, entertainingly told, and carrying much of the surface charm of The Life and Death of a Spanish Town, though, to date, the outcome is different and the purpose not so ""social"". It isn't a story of Spain at war, although the war comes in at the end to scar their dream inn and upset their plans, but not as a personally/experienced reality. It is a sunny, gay and thoroughly diverting and charming book. And it holds some hope that all of Spain has not perished by the sword of hate.
