... was a small cat who lived by the Seine on The Street of the Fishing Cat in Paris. When winter came, though, the fish all were out of reach. Fat, greedy Monsieur Mechant lived alone and would share his fish with no one. Consultation with his feline friends brought about a plan of action for Beau to become cat-in-residence to Monsieur Mechant. Written by the daughter of Lynd Ward and illustrated by her husband, Bob Haynes, this tale has too many weaknesses and shortcomings for general appeal. Quality in the illustrations is generally uneven, the plot seems farfetched and it wavers in the telling between verse and prose. Strong stitching.
