by Naomi John ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 14, 1981
A day in the life of a desert roadrunner, sort of--but mostly a string of encounters with assorted creatures which either bring the running bird to a halt, to catch and eat them (a lizard, a snake), impel him to race (a horse and rider, a jeep), or give chase after him (a dog, a hawk, a bobcat). Come night, the roadrunner finally comes to a halt, settles down next to a cactus, and closes his eyes. No real narrative structure, no natural-history substance, no descriptive power--just enervating.
