SECRET FRIEND

Rhoda Sperry, whom you met in Little Rhody and Somebody Special is twelve now, and living on a Michigan farm to which the Sperrys have moved from New York. The easy back-in-mother's day tone of early 20th century living is definitely heart warming. Rhody has aspirations as a writer, but when her father sends a story of hers into the Youth's Companion and it is accepted, Rhoda's older sisters charge her with betrayal so she is afraid to write from her own experience. There is, too, the problem of making friends, but when that is solved through young Dan, she acquires her first beau and at the same time a realization that one can write about people and remain friends.
