EXARCH LEONID FEODOROV: Bridgebuilder Between Rome and Moscow

The life-work of this pioneer champion of the cause of unity between Christians of the West and East is narrated simply and factually by Father Mailleux. The material on which the story is based is remarkable considering the handicaps which any researcher would encounter trying to write about a man whose exploits behind the from Curtain are certainly not popular. Father Feodorov's courage and tenacity in the face of hostility, hardship, opposition and persecution are edifying even in this straight retelling of his life. Perhaps the portrayal assembled here will serve as a basic source to inspire a livelier account in a day not likely to be too distant. Then, undoubtedly, the Exarch's early struggles will be seen in perspective against the full realization of the unity for which he lived and suffered.
