THE WARM AND GOLDEN WAR

...couldn't be chillier, and this is another checkpoint in Le Carre country, a border crossing (doublecrossing) which a wealthy Hungarian has presumably staged to stiffen Hungarian resistance--some 1000 refugees are to be liberated by a small unit of mercenaries. Sear, a Life-styled photographer, is hired to photograph it and follows what proves to be a sell-out from their site--a deserted monastery... Idealistic intrigue, with a certain scar tissue of cynicism, all well handled.
