PICASSO LINOLEUM CUTS: Bacchanals, Women, Bulls & Bullfighters

Only recently, as the editor explains, did Picasso begin working in this distinctive medium. The artist's control over the flat extended areas (which are inherent in this art form) and his attention to color (mainly ochres, browns, and blacks) will be of interest chiefly to artists and Picasso's ardent followers. There are 45 plates on rich, heavy paper, and the only explanations offered are in the brief, but informative and sound, introduction. Comments on the individual cuts would have been instructive for those not numbered among Picasso's initiates.
