An amusing tale of a past generation which some will question for its doubtful moral value, since Melinda acquired virtue by palming off something she didn't want (but which her parents wanted her to have), for something she did want (which presumably they did not want her to have). Hardly the conception of charity that should be the basis of even child understanding.
