RUFUS THE RED-NECKED HORNBILL

When an exotic, bird from Thailand escaped several years ago from a New York pet shop, the whole city followed Rufus on his lively escapade amid the city sky-scrapers. Now, the story of this impetuous hornbill is retold in a humorous though factual treatment, and illustrated with humorous drawings by Polly Cameron. Apart from the interpretation of human thoughts attributed to the bird and the device of constant repetition of detail, this book might well captivate the parent reader as well as the child, who inevitably will be fascinated by Rufus' unconventional antics.
