The author's detective is Inspector Henry Tibbett of Scotland Yard who is well established. However, the narrator for his present case is ""Pudge"" Croom-enters, producer for the erstwhile film company from which the title's star fell -- right into the path of an oncoming train. Pudge is a perfect reporter to relate every detail of talented film makers and talentless stars. He sets down every enomous dart aimed at his thick bulk and every twist in the complex multi-murder plot with fatly priggish punctilio. Good show.
