CITADEL RUN

Ripsnorting road-racing and other zany fun and games with the ladies and gentlemen of the L.A.P.D. ""Calico"" Jack Walker, amateur rodeo rider, would-be fisherman, and professional policeman, is trying to make it through his last weeks of service without screwing up his pension. He's a great cop, but he's incurred the wrath of Sergeant Fazio, the current beau of Walker's ex-wife. Fazio would love to see Walker drummed out of the corps without a sou, and it looks as if he may have the perfect opportunity. Walker, defending the honor of his delectable Anglo-Japanese partner Tina against the slurs of Thumper Thurman and Guy Stack, a couple of racist, sexist pigs, challenges the lowlife cops to a highly illegal round-trip race to Las Vegas. Fazio gets wind of the race and plans to catch Walker at the wheel, icing the pension for good. The race is a very big deal; Walker once made a similar run to Tijuana, an act that became legend in the force, but Stack and Thurman are fierce and ruthless opponents, and there's the ever-present danger of Sgt. Fazio. Calico wants to make the race by himself, but the adoring Tina holds a gun to his head until he agrees to take her along for what turns out to be an unusually wild ride. Far-fetched fun from a real live L.A.P.D. detective.
