sonnets written to the author's small daughter -- sonnets which I frankly felt did not represent him at his best. In thought and language they seem abstruse, difficult. While they represent various aspects of childhood, they lack the simplicity that should be inherent in such verse. There are lovely phrases, lovely bits, and a few sonnets that I cared to go back to, -- XV, XXXI, XXXIX, and the last three.
