THE HILTON HEAD OVER-35 DIET: Change Your Metabolism: Look and Feel Years Younger

In spite of the hyped-up subtitle and the usual excited diet-book prose, this is sound eating and exercise advice for those adjusting to the metabolic changes of middle age. Miller (The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet, The Hilton Head Executive Stamina Program) has his diet-guide style clown perfectly: ""You and I are going to superchange your fat-burning engine and rediscover the firm, slim body of your youth."" Nevertheless, his advice is good: changes associated with aging (clearly summarized here) can lead to less-efficient body use of calories; but healthy eating and a good exercise program can readjust the body's metabolism. After some self-assessment regarding weight and metabolic rate, readers learn the details of the high complex-carbohydrate diet, a low-impact exercise program of walking, and some muscle-strengthening exercises. The diet itself is bearable, with four or five meals required daily. Menus and recipes are included. Sound advice, then, in a pop format.
