FLOYD, A CAT'S STORY

Pampered cat Floyd, the pet of rich Mr. and Mrs. Bloot, has everything that money can buy--including ""An orange cap, a big long car, and a chauffeur named Herbert""--but he isn't happy: what cat would be? Then, a big, ""bright-blue box"" arrives (in actuality, bright turquoise) . . . and the Ronald-Searle-ish cartoons take on an antic glee as Floyd catapults over the box, crawls under it, sneaks up behind it and (teeth bared in a maniac grin) ATTACKS! ""But, best of all, he could curl up inside it."" Floyd and the box are a pair (unmistakably, on the last page); and Floyd almost purrs with contentment. Only a poor-little-rich-cat conceit to start with--but with a real emotional binge for a wind-up.
