THREE FOR MIDNIGHT

Chosen from a long and distinguished career in mystery writing, these three hold up well for technique and entertainment value. The Rasp, MacDonald's first detective novel, introduced his detective Anthony Gethryn. Murder Gone Mad, inspired by the case of the Dusseldorf Monster, is still perfect for a winter evening's added chill. The Rynox Murder, gains in interest for its light satire of the time and the form. Extravaganza with three stars.
