A FIVE COLOR BUICK AND A BLUE--EYED CAT

Fred is another of Wood's hang-loose, high school heroes who seems to have no trouble attracting sweet girlfriends and animal satellites--in this case the girl is Laurie, daughter of the Palmer Pet store manager, and the pet is the ""two-toned"" Siamese cat Ginger Blossom. Both cat and girl come with Fred and Randy's summer job as pet store delivery men--to which Randy contributes the use of his ancient, five color Buick and his marketing talents while Fred donates his all purpose affability. The delivery routine is pretty weak stuff; only the most relaxed readers will be able to warm up to the humorous escapades of foulmoutlied parrot Singapore Sadie and the Buick's stick-prone horn. Tom Thompson (of Your Bird is Here. . .) was at least a gentle misfit. Fred gets along just fine, and provided he doesn't put you to sleep there's nothing that can be said against him.
