THE CHILD AND THE EMPEROR

Prince Lowenstein's story tells of the journey of the boy Jesus to Rome in the company of Joseph of Arimathea, in which the wonder child casts his spell over his traveling companions, the weather they encounter and finally upon Caesar Augustus himself. At the end the Emperor bows before the thirteen year old boy and acknowledges him as the Christ. Bidden by the child to keep this knowledge secret, the Emperor is promised that ""wherever the tidings of the Kingdom are made known the names of Caesar Augustus and Tiberius Caesar will be on the lips of men to the end of time"". A devout but extremely naive bit of fiction.
