POINTERS ON ATHLETICS

West Point athletics -- not athletics in general- provide the meat of this composite picture by five outstanding coaches who have their say on what makes for good football, baseball, basketball and track athletics. Another coach or player in any of these sports can learn from each of these careful prepared studies; even the interested spectator will find his enjoyment enhanced. Good offensive and defensive play (in basketball and football); what pitchers should do and how infielders and outfielders should play; how track athletes are trained and developed. As the book goes to press, one of the Army coaches, Dale Hall, has left West Point, but his contribution stands with the others as excellent. All the coaches are true professionals with a fine amateur spirit.
