ONE FLAG, ONE LAND

The transfer of power in New Orleans from Spain to France to the United States provides the excuse for a slight story of an orphaned Kentucky boy and his conflicting loyalties. Uncle Louis has endangered himself for David's boatmen friends and by his opposition to the Spanish, but still can't reconcile himself, aristocratic Frenchman that he is, to the rule of rough Americans--until two ""hurrahs"" by David and an unexpected inheritance save the big day. There's a slow journey by flatboat down the Mississippi and personal appearances by Jean Lafitte but the plot isn't up to the occasion.
