Drawings of animals and methods of transportation, respectively, with a one-word label for each. The 100 animals are arranged according to habitat: farm, forest, shore, sea, lakes and streams, mountains, ice and snow, jungle, grasslands, prairie and desert, fields, home. Transportation begins with the Category ""On My Own Two Feet"" (walk, crawl, roll, run), and includes ""In the City"" (stroller, subway, wheelchair, trolley, taxi) and ""In an Emergency"" (fire truck, police car, ambulance). Other items are shown as they occur in winter, air, space, distant lands, water, work, and at the amusement park. There is a section on things the child can manipulate by himself: bicycle, roller skates, skateboard, wagon. Each book has a double-spread titled ""From the Past."" The pictures in the animal book are awkward and stilted, as if depicting animals in a museum tableau. The picture's in the transportation book, though, are more lively; the pleasure of being transported, whether by one's own feet or Camel or yacht, is made palpable. Many children will enjoy this repeatedly.
