SUPERSWINE

Superswine"" is the triumphant product of a blend of ecology and technology. It's the new breed bred by scientific swine management which has ""eradicated almost everything piggish but the pork."" ""It is an ersatz pig. It is a man-made pig. It is an un-pig."" And this satire is a little on the ersatz side even though it does have its moments. Pigs do lend themselves nicely to parody. Consider the chapter on the sex life of a sow. Less successful is the attempt to provoke mild hysteria by dwelling on the fact that one must now take a shower before visiting the divine swine. There is a well stocked variety of facts and figures and a section-- ""Case Histories of Prominent Pigs"" which features a lovable porker named Lassie. It may reach a small portion of the stock market.
