ANIMAL ORPHANAGE

Wild dogs (actually they're very rare) and an Englishman, in the post-midday sun of reminiscence--Mr. Garvey was the former Honorary Game Warden of the animal orphanage at Nairobi National Park. This, without any ado about born and living free, is a one-by-one chronology of baboons (very noisy) and chimpanzees (who liked to dress up and pick locks) and/or honey bears and an inquisitive golden otter and bush babies and unpredictably vicious leopards. There's a rare and irresistible baby ant bear as well as lions--they brought up the two for the Adamson film. Mara and Ugas; etc. etc. A pleasantly personalized but not sentimentalized account tenanted by all kinds of animals, a few birds and insects.
