HUDSON BAY EXPRESS

This is a good story, with a setting that is not hackneyed, fast paced plot (piodio in character, but with a central theme), and a contemporary feel, in spite of the remoteness of the background. The scene is the edge of civilization at a Hudson's Bay trading post, where the son of the factor and an Indian lad of fifteen form a lasting friendship, and go into business together as dog team trainers and dog breeders. The successive adventures in which their teams involve them include the tracking down of a mystery weather bureau, manned and equipped by the enemy (presumably German), and a thrilling dog team race to prove the fitness of teams for national defense work. The book is better written than the average juvenile adventure story, and the publishers have made a beautiful book of it with stunning pictures by Henry C. Pit.
