First shot in a new series featuring tough-talking Clayton Taggart of Austin, Texas, an expensive gumshoe whose daily bread has been the bedroom photograph that proves adultery. But then Taggart's old war buddy, photographer Jeff Nordau, is murdered at the Austin airport--and Taggart learns that nasty, lecherous zillionaire Dr. Alexander Masterman was buying photos of a mysterious beauty from Nordau. Now, in fact, Masterman hires Taggart to trace the beauty, but the murder also seems to involve a secret financial organization, a conspiracy to drive the price of diamonds sky-high, and a Senator who made some home porno movies with a sexpot called ""Space Angel."" (Is she Muterman's mystery girl?) International sleuthings, lots of fantasy-junk sex, busy plotting--but, except for the character behind the conspiracy (a ruthless weirdo well-versed in The Wasteland and the legend of the Fisher King), it's routine bang-bang nonsense all the way.
