THE STUART LEGACY

A nicely paced, good-humored historical adventure set in Scotland in the days of James VI. James Stuart, well bred soldier of fortune, lands in Scotland on a mysterious mission to contact two men he finds have been executed for treason. Another informer is murdered and Stuart's life is obviously in danger when he decides to take on the assignment of squiring the beautiful if testy Madeleine scheduled to wed someone else for money and property. While traversing wild glens and forests hiding hostile and friendly Scots, the two walk into the wicked hands of the Earl of Orkney who articulates his grisly projects to his cat. Also Stuart solves the mystery of his half and Madeleine's half of a clasped brooch which leads to the discovery that he is really. . . . Marvelous Douglas Fairbanks escapes and escapades and war whoops from knobby kneed Scots. Sterling.
