THE WAGER

A Kek Huuygens Novel"" adds a little fresh blood -- no, not exactly blood -- to the genre. Rather sporting blood since Kek's a gambler and he makes a 10,000 to five dollar bet with a collector that he can't secure a fine Chinese ivory carving from a small museum on an island near Barbados. He is not to do the actual lifting but finds that he is the only one who can, and can get away with it, although the pay-off comes as something of a pleasant surprise. Light fingers make busy work, for as long as it lasts.
