DETECTIVE MOLE AND THE CIRCUS MYSTERY

Where has Melba, the Amazing Tattooed Cow--the star of the circus--gone to on her wedding day? And what's the meaning of the threat that Detective Mole finds in her empty trailer, written on a photo of Melba that looks like any other: ""THE WORLD WILL SEE THIS, MELBA, UNLESS YOU DO WHAT I SAY""? Well, it seems that Melba's ""tattooed"" butterflies are just makeup; that she's being blackmailed by tattoo artist Mac the giraffe; that she ran off because she was afraid bridegroom Boris Bull, the circus strong act, only loved her for her tattoos; that she's meanwhile been riding the ferris wheel unrecognized (because unadorned); that Detective Mole figured all this out by noticing the absence of a butterfly on her nose in the photo--the explanation for which is that she didn't have all her makeup on. Pretty farfetched, even as the Detective Mole forays go.
