by Roger--Ed. Zelazny ‧ RELEASE DATE: May 1, 1996
Fourteen original tales and several poems, with an Introduction by David Brin, in tribute to the influential, much-loved, well-respected and (fortunately) long-lived Jack Williamson (b. 1908), though it's ironic that. both editor Zelazny and contributor John Brunner died during the book's gestation. Frederik Pohl and Connie Willis each contribute stories that feature Williamson as a character. Other tales embellish such famous Williamson creations as the inexorable robot Humanoids (Ben Bova, John Brunner, Jeff Bredenberg, Andre Norton), the Legion of Space space opera (Paul Dellinger, David Weber, John J. Miller), and the shapeshifters of Darker Than You Think (Poul Anderson, Lane Lindskold, Mike Resnick). And Fred Saberhagen's own dread Berserkers clash with Williamson's Humanoids in a showdown that will have topped many a fan's wish list.
