COOKING SCANDINAVIAN

This might better have been entitled Fating Scandinavian, for it is the very personal record of how two young women, with an idea for an unusual type of Scandinavian cookbook based on collecting favorites from the best of cooks, cat their way through Denmark, Sweden and Norway. This is not a book that falls into categories from soup to nuts, for they eat and get the recipes about the things they like from farm wives, society hostesses, even an occasional bachelor gourmet, and the order is hit or miss:- entrees, vegetables, lesserts as they occur. Fortunately for the inquiring housewife seeking something different, there is an index. But for most of us, the fun of this book is in the reading, enjoying the amusing linecuts, and savoring in imaginations things we plan to try out at home.
