THE WIND CALL

An English storyteller and illustrator combines fantasy with natural history in a pleasant if sentimental look at the world of mites and near mites. Pierello, a baby of the Little People, is carried north from Italy hidden in a flower. He is a tiny human about the size of a mouse, but he fares well in an English garden when two warblers take him into their nest and raise him. Grown to boyhood, Pierello makes more animal friends and there is a happy adventure when he and a vole friend (something like a mouse) are taken south for the winter by the birds.
